• Purpose:

  Subgrade inspections ensure the soil beneath a construction site is suitable for supporting the intended structure. 

• Timing:

  These inspections occur immediately before the placement of footings, foundations, fill, or other supporting materials. 

• What's Checked:

  Inspectors assess soil quality, compaction, stability, and load-bearing capacity, verifying the site's readiness for construction. 

• Geotechnical Report:

  The inspection must be in accordance with the approved geotechnical report. 

• Special Inspections:

  Subgrade inspections are considered a type of special inspection, requiring a special inspector to ensure compliance with the New York City Building Code. 

• Documentation:

  Special inspection agencies must maintain records of inspections, including field logs, test results, and notes, for at least six years.

Concrete - Cast-in-place & Precast

BC 1704.41704.4 Concrete construction. The special inspections and verifications for concrete construction shall be as required by this section and Table 1704.4.

Exception: Special inspections shall not be required for the following when specifically exempted on the approved con­struction documents:

• Concrete placement of less than 50 cubic yards (38 m3)‡ provided that the concrete is nonstructural and is not subject to the durability requirements of Section 1904. In such case, testing may be waived by the reg­istered design professional who prepared the struc­tural construction documents.

• Nonstructural concrete slabs supported directly on the ground, including prestressed slabs on grade, where the effective prestress in the concrete is less than 150 psi (1.03 Mpa).

• Concrete foundation(s) for lightweight fences and recreational equipment.

• Concrete patios, site furnishings, garden walls, drive­ways, sidewalks and similar construction.

콘크리트 구조물에 대한 특별 검사 및 확인 사항은 본 조항 및 표 1704.4에 명시된 바에 따라야 합니다.

예외:

아래 항목에 해당하고, 승인된 설계도서에 특별히 면제된 경우에는 특별 검사가 요구되지 않습니다.

• 구조적 요소가 아니며, 코드 제1904절의 내구성 요건이 적용되지 않는 50입방야드(38 m³) 미만의 콘크리트 타설. 이 경우, 구조 설계 도서를 작성한 등록 설계 전문가(Registered Design Professional)가 시험 생략을 허용할 수 있습니다.

• 구조물이 아닌 콘크리트 슬래브로, 지면에 직접 지지되며, 콘크리트에 작용하는 유효 프리스트레스가 150psi(1.03 MPa) 미만인 경우.

• 경량 울타리 및 레크리에이션 장비용 콘크리트 기초.
